Dakota Horizon Express was David's personal hunting dog, as well as Number 1 guide dog. She was Horizon Kennels foundation bitch. Dakota was a Hillhaven Handsome granddaughter. We picked her from a litter of 13 healthy puppies in 1998.  She was exclusively hunted on all wild birds. Dakota was full of natural ability; point, back, and retrieve to hand - land or water. She was a good looking dog, and an athlete with a lot of desire to hunt. These traits convinced David that we had a dog that had potential for breeding, campaigned or not. In January '04 we made the decision to have Dakota bred. At close to six years of age, her hips and elbows were OFA certified as ''Good." We took some time to look at Hunt Tests, Gun Clubs, and several litters, and then we decided to search the Internet.  After months worth of pedigree research, we decided on a fine looking stud that was both a house dog and a Number-One guide dog, He is a Master Hunter, NAVHDA Utility Prize1, both of his parents are Master Hunters and both Canadian and International Show Champions.  He is double bred "DC/AFC Stradivarius Baroque." He has a great disposition and a pedigree with perhaps some of the greatest concentration of Germany's leading sire  Axel V.Wasserschling, through sons Peron and Esser's Chick, along with many Dual Champions on both side's of his pedigree.  DC Hillhaven Hustler, DC Esser's Duke VD Wildburg, DC Kay VD Wildburg and DC Timberdoodle's Lancers Answer. Dakota reproduced the same great qualities she possessed; Dakota has left her mark in quality characteristics and traits in all of her offspring and grand get. Horizon's Trace of Dakota

"Trace"

Trace is a pup from Dakota, that David has been working with for our kennel's future.  She is AKC and NAVHDA registered.  Trace has had 100's of wild pheasants shot over point, retrieved dozen's of Canadian Geese in the field and several Ducks as well..  Trace is very staunch on point, backs and retrieves very naturally. She is also a very biddable dog. We feel that she has potential to produce a Dual-Type dog like her Sire, Grand Dam and Grand Sire as well as her dual Great Grandfather  "DC AFC Stradivarius Baroque". Trace is out of the 2008 AKC Hunt Test Sire of the Year Jaegerhof's Sir Henry Higgins MH and Dakota Horizon Express JH. She has a very nice Hustler type disposition at home and in the field she is all business.  Trace received a NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize1 112, a perfect score. We will be training Trace for the Fall NAVHDA Utility Test as well as the Senior Level in AKC.  Trace has inherited many fine qualities and natural traits, that she will be able to pass on to our line of foot hunting companion/gun dogs.  Trace has been OFA Hip Certified "Good".  Trace is now five years old, picking up where her mother left off.  Trace and her litter mates set the bar pretty high; we plan to continue with quality breeding stock like this dog for our kennels future. Horizon's Vanna Vom Hustleberg JH

"Vanna"

Vanna has a solid foundation of line bred Dual Champion Bloodlines. She is AKC and NAVHDA Registered. She has a great nose and alot of natural ability, a very savy wild bird dog. Very intelligent and very arrogant.  Vanna has an AKC Junior Hunter Title and received a NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize lll this Spring 08' . We feel that Vanna has the ability to reproduce these qualities from these bloodlines and pedigree, we at "Horizon Kennels" have been working towards for our ideal foot hunting/companion gun dogs. Vanna is from the Old School, this dog is very Pure Old German Shorthaired Pointer.  We will be training Vanna for advanced levels in AKC and NAVHDA as well as the 09' wild bird season. Vanna has been OFA Hip Certified "Good". We have done a lot of research and hard work on finding and adding this female to our kennel. Flirt is a pup out of Trace that we have kept for our kennels future. Flirt is AKC and NAVHDA Registered.  She is spitting image of her mother but faster; with her bird sense and smooth gait, Flirt can run the prairie like she owns it. Flirt has always handled Sharptails naturally! This year was a great year for bird hunting Flirt in North Dakota, we spent the whole bird season there. She is a Huntress, look out WILD BIRDS, tons of Prey Drive, and natural ability. Flirt is the result of a long thought out breeding program we have been working on here at Horizon Kennels, Flirt will be a Fourth generation brood bitch. Horizon's Chevy Vom Hustleberg is a natural on the prairie. Chevy has proven himself as a great sharptail dog; he has matured into a very nice bird dog with Endless Drive and True Grit determination, not to mention the best ground speed on any dog we have produced. You can't wear him out; we spent the whole Hunting Season in North Dakota hunting Rooster's, Sharptails, and Huns. He is a NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize 1 110. Chevy has a nice disposition. Chevy is an old throwback to DC Shillrest's Impressive - he is spitting image of Tori. When we put this breeding together, we were looking for a dog like Chief. When Chevy showed up, we had to stop and look back at who this dog was in the litter. His Dam, Vanna, is Linebred DC Shillrest's Impressive, another great dog and proven producer.
